As we approach the end of January 2026, I wanted to highlight a fun activity I love revisiting annually: Vision Boards! These boards, also known as Dream Boards, provide a chance to visually represent your goals and intentions for the year. Some people create new ones every year, others make updates or tweaks, and some use the same board for several years. I've tried all these approaches. I even have friends who keep separate boards for personal and career goals. What I appreciate most about this activity is that there's no right or wrong way to do it. It's all about what works for you and motivates you to pursue your goals. It's literally the act of creating a collage of all the things that are meaningful to you, that speak to you, or that you are trying to achieve, and then keeping it in a place where you can view it daily for inspiration. Some people hang their boards on a wall, while others might use a movable poster board or bulletin board to display when needed. You can also create a virtual vision board. I made my first virtual one using Pinterest as a work project with colleagues to develop career goals. Again, there's no right or wrong way; it's about how you want to create it and make it effective for you. The key is to keep it accessible for viewing throughout the year.
I think vision boards are a great way to kick off the new year, but honestly, you can do them anytime throughout the year when you feel like you need a little extra motivation. Whenever I look at my vision board, it makes me smile because it's filled with my favorite colors, inspirational quotes and words, pictures of people and things that are important to me, and it reminds me of what I'd like to achieve. This can be a great boost for those who are feeling stuck and need help finding clarity and inspiration for their goals. There is something about seeing those things that we want to achieve on a regular basis that really helps us take steps to move in the right direction. For example, my vision board includes images of healthy foods, and over the past few years, I've noticed that I've been consuming a greater variety of foods similar to those shown on my board. My family is on my vision board because it's important to me to remember to always make time and space for them, and I have been able to connect with them in new ways. I also have quotes that lift me up and make me feel like I can keep going during times when it's not so easy. My vision board is always there for me to access and literally see where I'm going. It's like a map that provides an overview of the road I'm traveling, and I love the view I've created.
If you're a visual person like me and haven't tried creating a vision board yet, you might want to consider it. Assembling one can be a calming and inspiring activity for your mind and soul. It's enjoyable and doesn't have to be expensive. You can cut out motivational images and words from magazines, print pictures from the internet, include your own photos and words, and design it in a way that truly motivates you. It's just for you; there's no need to share it with anyone unless you feel the need to share. I look at it like a big visual love letter to myself. I dare to dream big and envision all the things that I know will bring me to a place of peace and joy. There are no limits. May your visions inspire you to keep moving forward and take you on adventures beyond your wildest dreams.
Wishing you love, light, and life filled with authenticit-E.
